Frequently Asked Questions- Misty Moonlight

  • How do I get to Bocas del Toro from Panama City?
    • Air Panama (airpanama.com) flies between Albrook International Airport (PAC) in Panama City to Bocas del Toro (BOC) several times a day. These flights can often book up, so please make your reservation early. Also please note that most international flights arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY). The time between airports varies greatly with traffic depending on the time of day. The cost is around $25 for Uber and $40 for a taxi.

  • How do I get to Bocas del Toro from Costa Rica?
    • Caribe Shuttle (caribeshuttle.rezdy.com) provides transportation with a tour from San Jose to Bocas del Toro daily. The trip is about ten hours, includes lunch, and is $78 each-way.
  • How do I get from Bocas del Toro to Misty Moonlight?
    • There are two options to get to Misty Moonlight from Bocas del Toro.
    • PanaBocas Express (on Facebook) runs shared fast water taxis several times a day and will stop right at our dock. It’s not a normal scheduled stop so be sure to tell the captain you want to be dropped off at Misty Moonlight. We are the only resort with daily scheduled public express water taxi service, pick up and return 5 times a day. It is easier, less expensive, and faster to stay in the beautiful outer island Loma Partida than any other location outside of Bocas town including Isla Colon.
    • We operate our own private luxury tour boat available to pick you up in Bocas del Toro. Please contact us for more information.

  • Do you have any stores or restaurants close to the area?
    • Yes, two restaurants and two small Indigenous shops, basics only.
    • Many excellent restaurants, shops, activities, and tourist attractions are easily accessible via PanaBocas Express.

  • Are there a lot of mosquitoes (no see-um)?
    • We don’t have mangrove trees that are present in most of the area, and the mangrove trees are what attract bugs. We do recommend bringing bug repellent, especially if you are susceptible to insect bites. We are still are in the jungle and do not spray with harsh chemicals.

  • Can I reserve the whole resort for events or my family vacations?
    • Yes, we would be delighted to host your special event or helping you create a memorable private family vacation.

  • Are there other off island activities I can do around Misty Moonlight?
    • Yes, we have tours to Red Frog Beach, Bocas Town shopping with historical walking tour, Chocolate Farm and Dolphin Bay, Zapatilla’s National Park, Fishing and Scuba diving.

  • Is the food included during my stay?
    • We have a variety of meal plan options available. You may choose to have one, two or all three daily meals. Our premier over-the-water villa Hacienda Del Mar has a full covered outdoor kitchen.

  • Can I have just the Breakfast?
    • Yes. We offer a la carte meal options.
  • What types of beds do you have?
    • Each location has different luxury bedding available.
    • The over-the-water villa contains a memory foam mattress.
    • The Dolphin Suite has a traditional Sealy pillow-top.
    • Nativo lodge has an amazing Chiropractic mattress.
    • The Mountain House and Bubble Tent has a Deluxe Sealy Pillow-top Air Mattress.

  • Do you have hot water and drinkable water?
    • Yes, all showers have wonderful instant or solar hot water heaters for relaxing showers after a long day of touring. Filtered drinking water as well as from Plus Berkley and Kangen watering systems is included in every location. We take healthy clean water seriously and water in Panama is cleaner than most of Latin America even before filtering.

  • Are there restrictions on water usage?
    • No. We have a 12 thousand gallon filtered rainwater catchment system. We ask our guests to be conscious of their water usage while taking showers and not letting the water run when not in use so as to be good citizens of the world. In Bocas Town there are occasional water shortages, but we have never had one at our resort.

  • Is there a good internet connection?
    • Yes, we have microwave internet service from PaNETma, a premier provider in Panama. It is extremely reliable and we use it daily for video chat, YouTube, and Netflix, although we encourage you to enjoy the sea and outdoors instead.

  • Will I be able to charge my electronic devices reliably?
    • Yes, our electricity is solar which provides ample electricity during the day and charges our extensive battery power bank for use in the evening. As we are off grid and ecologically conscious, we do request all guests unplug devices when not in use.
    • When out on daily tours some locations may not have electricity, so if you have devices that will not last a full day on a charge, we recommend bringing a power bank for your own daytime use.

  • What should we pack?
    • We suggest the following items in addition to your regular warm weather vacation clothes: rain jacket, sunscreen, repellent, water shoes or tennis shoes which can get wet, hat, and sunglasses. Some evenings do get cool so a light sweater is advisable.

  • What cleaning products do you use?
    • We use all Norwex (norwex.biz) antibacterial cleaning cloths and cleaners. These are inspired by Norway’s beautiful, simpler and environmentally thoughtful way of living, just like ours in Panama. These are amazing products that are available for purchase and delivered after you return home.
